“Skipping Stones” in the Alexander Valley

Yesterday I had the opportunity to try a truly stellar Alexander Valley red that is not seen in very many places as there just isn’t very much of it made – only 321 cases. This is the 2015 Skipstone Faultline Vineyard Red blend. The 200 acre Skipstone Estate is tucked between two stunning hillsides in the mountains overlooking Alexander Valley. The estate is entirely sustainable and the winemaking superlative, with Bordelaise winemaker and consultant Phillipe Melka at the helm.

The 2015 Skipstone Faultline Vineyard Red. This wine had very elegant aromatics of Plum and pepper that were highly enticing. On the palate, the wine showed flavors of black cherry, spice and dark fruit that are rich yet still elegant, and the flavors lingered long and intertwined with soft tannins. This wine is a top notch example of what a great bordelaise winemaker can do with California fruit; simply stunning $145.99
