2015 Damien Laureau Savennières "La Petite Roche" Chenin Blanc
La Petite Roche is a lieu-dit just west of the village of Savennières located on a gentle southern and southeastern oriented slope facing the Loire river. Here Damien has some younger vines of Chenin planted on sandy grey schist soils. While fruit from La Petite Roche makes up the majority of the blend, there is a small percentage press wine from the Genets cuvée that gets added. 88, Wine Advocate From 30- to 50-year-old Chenin vines on schist, sand and clay soils, the citrus-colored, tank-fermented 2015 Savennières La petite Roche displays a clear, fresh and mineral nose with perfectly ripe fruit and some citrus aromas. Pure, round and very elegant on the palate, this medium-bodied and grippy wine develops a stunning intensity and lengt,h but keeps its purity, finesse and freshness. The finish is fresh, well structured and characterful, pretty long and reveals a stimulating salinity. Bottled in March 2016.
